Software as a Service (SaaS)
Scaling tech
My software journey started in the early 2000s, just after the dotcom bubble had well and truly burst.
Back then we called much of it ‘new media’, I led ‘digital transformation’ projects, and we were focused on cloud computing. This was a natural bridge to web-based software which we know as SaaS today.
My skills within SaaS specifically sit within productisation and GTM. I partner with C-Suite peers to deliver product-anchored growth.
I’m focused on AI (primarily Machine Learning and Deep Learning) believing that machine intelligence will be the last major human-led invention, with most breakthroughs thereafter stemming from that.
What I’ve studied
I studied Artificial Intelligence at Saïd Business School. The six-week executive education program focused on both the commercial opportunities for, and the operational impact of, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Deep Learning.
I studied Platform Strategy at MIT’s Sloan School of Management. It was a deep-dive in to the definition of platform strategy within product and technology led organisations; including platform dynamics, productisation of digital platforms, and how to scale SaaS.
What I’m reading
I’m reading ‘Artifical Intelligence - A Guide For Thinking Humans’ by Melanie Mitchell currently and greatly enjoying exploring: how intelligent the best AI programs are; questions around trust and ethics; and the myths and possibilities of a day when AI surpasses humans.
“Flavoured with personal stories and a twist of humour, Artificial Intelligence illuminates the workings of machines that mimic human learning, perception, language, creativity and common sense. Weaving together advances in AI with cognitive science and philosophy, Mitchell probes the extent to which today's 'smart' machines can actually think or understand, and whether AI even requires such elusive human qualities at all.”
